A little about Myself
Digital artwork has always been a passion for me. I started creating and drawing at a very young age, moving through various programs, until I found Photoshop. When I first started in Photoshop, it was on version 7.0, and it was the greatest thing I had ever seen. The ability to use brush presets, blending modes, filters, it was all so much power in one program. So much, that I thought I’d never be able to learn it all! As the years went by, I slowly improved my knowledge of the program, as well as my artistic abilities. Eventually when I was about 14 or 15, my parents bought my brother and I the Adobe Creative Suite CS3 for Christmas. Needless to say, we were extremely stoked! My brother jumped all over the video programs, while I had my eyes set specifically on the new Photoshop. So many new toys to play with!
As my life continued on, I always knew I loved to draw and create, but I never thought it would become more than a hobby. In fact, my first choice for college was to become a Pharmacy Technician, and then move towards a Pharm.D to become a Pharmacist. That went completely down the tubes as I found just memorizing the names of medication was like learning a new language. So I ended up leaving that behind, and found myself completely confused on where to take my life.
Two and a half years ago, my best friend was just about to get out of the United States Marine Corps, and he had a great idea to go to college for Graphic Design. I will admit, I was hesitant at first, but two weeks to the day he got out, there we were at Platt College San Diego shooting for our Associate’s Degree. As the first few classes started chugging along, I didn’t know if it was right for me. I like to draw pretty pictures, and there I was focusing on typography, and the sterile aspects of graphic design. As it progressed, I found to really enjoy all aspects of the craft, and regret absolutely nothing about the decision made.
As it stands, I graduated with my Associate’s Degree in Applied Science for Graphic Design, and just can’t wait to get out into the industry! I dream of eventually becoming a concept artist. That is truly where my passion is, and I am working every day to make that dream a reality!
